Pinterest has created a lot of buzz in the social media since the last few months. Actually, it has driven more customers to retail sites (directly) than Google+, Youtube and LinkedIn combined. It's more popular amongst women. Study shows that 70-80% of the total user are women.
What amazes me even more is that everyone wants to be a pinterest for every other thing. Be it, for men, shopping, instagram or fashion etc. It's totally uncalled for, and many startups aren't getting uniquer.
Pinterest is really everywhere.
All I am seeing every day is a Pinterest article about how to do this and why to do that. Or, here's a pinterest for this thing or that. Social Media giants like Mashable and The Next Web are getting absurd. It's surely about getting hits (isn't it?).
Pinterest has attracted a majority and is continuing to do so. But, I am speaking here for myself. Pinterest hasn't attracted me at once. I joined it and left it in it's first week, because it didn't interest me/intrigue me at all.
Rest to say, I am now a social media writer as I have completed step number one.

Somehow, I have always felt that I want to blog something exciting, somethign that's really what I like. I love music, infact I can't simply imagine a day without listening to a few new, old, random songs.
Now, I have simplified my needs/wants.
I know, I have always felt that way. When I first joined Tumblr, I hated it. It was only after a short time that I left it for a better platform i.e. Posterous.
But, Tumblr isn't that bad. It's probably bad because of the constant stream updates from the regular tumblr users. I now, know why I deleted my account two years ago.
But, I rejoined it. It's simply because of two big reasons:
It's one thing that differs it from other platforms. For a free price, it allows you unlimited customisation, theming support and you can simply post anything, literally. I also like the Tumblr+Soundcloud integration which has helped me alot.
Focus is necessary and so is regulation of the effect.
I now only follow fellow tumblr users with very popular blogs, that includes disconaievete, yvynyl, stereoephiphany etc.
Tumblr also has a better tagging support. Instead of tags used to search only-site content, it searches the exact term all over the tumblr universe. So, content awareness matters!
SMPLDESIGN provided me a very beautiful, simplistic theme that suited my needs.

Doesn't this look super-cool and pretty?

A try to visualize the flow of the famous painting "Starry Night" of Vincent Van Gogh. The user can interact with the animation. Also, the sound responds to the flow. Made with openframeworks.
Beautiful, astounding piece of work.

Josh Clark wrote an amazing feature on .net magazine
Great mobile designs do more than shoehorn themselves into tiny screens: they make way for fingers and thumbs, accommodating the wayward taps of our clumsy digits. The physicality of handheld interfaces take designers beyond the conventions of visual and information design‚ and into the territory of industrial design. With touchscreens there are real ergonomics at stake. It's not just how your pixels look, but how they feel in the hand.
